Thanksgiving Weekend 2002

After a sumptious Thanksgiving dinner at Gretchen and Andy's, Emily, Fred, and I joined Marsha at her cabin near Fredericksburg for the rest of the weekend.

Thanksgiving is Brian's first day off since he joined the army. He's stationed in San Antonio now, so he got to have a family Thanksgiving with us in Austin.

Fred, Fred, Linda, Andy, Brian, and Gretchen are at the main table; Emily, Marsha, and I eat at the breakfast table in the kitchen — closer to the food.

Brian is not the only one who comes back for seconds,...

...as is evident in the after-dinner photos.

Marsha, Emily, and I pause on the porch of Marsha's cabin before we set out on our bikes.

Fred's telephoto lens can have the effect...

...of exaggerating hills, but...

...this shot of Fred is without benefit of telephoto, and the hills are still there.

Even with the cold wind, we enjoyed riding these back roads...

hill...

after hill...

after hill!

Of course there were frequent photo stops.

...for llamas...

....and mystery animals. Another of this family had horns like a moose. If anyone knows what they are, let us know.

Back at the cabin, Emily enjoys the rewards of a good ride — Dr. Pepper and a hearty sandwich.
